2008 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FUNDRAISING CHAMBERLAIN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
NOTE: This scholarship is administered on the chapter level. Contact your local AFP chapter for more information and an application form.
To help individuals serving nonprofit organizations develop their knowledge and skill in fundraising, the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy sponsors the Chamberlain Scholarship Program. The Chamberlain Scholarship honors the memory of Ralph E. Chamberlain, CFRE. AFP Chapters may name one $500 grant recipient per year. The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy will pay $500 of the $510 registration fee for Chamberlain Scholars. Depending on local resources, some chapters may award additional scholarship funds from their own treasuries.
Chamberlain scholarship recipients must be chosen by local chapters and the recipient's name reported to AFP International Headquarters by October 31, 2007.
All Chamberlain Scholars qualify for the discount conference registration rate regardless of when they register. Chamberlain Scholars are responsible for registering themselves for the Conference and for making all travel and lodging arrangements.
Chapters will select their Chamberlain Scholar(s) based on the following criteria, which are established by the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy and may be supplemented by criteria set by the local AFP chapter:
- Candidate is employed as a fundraising professional or, if candidate is an executive director, a substantial amount of time must be devoted to fundraising.
- Candidate has never attended an AFP (or NSFRE) International Conference on Fundraising as a registered participant (unless as a member of the Conference Host Committee).
- Candidate agrees to complete and return an Evaluation Form about his or her experience to the Scholarship Committee.
- Only one individual from any local organization or institution may be selected.
