1. AFP CFRE Review Course (1.5 Days)

Start/End Times:
March 21 8:30am to 4:30pm
March 22 8:30am to 11:30am

The AFP CFRE Review Course offers fund development professionals an opportunity to review the main components of a complete fundraising program. It is a 10-hour, intensive program the purpose of which is to provide an overview of skills, techniques, and program components based on fundraising experience at the five-year level. This course is organized around the domains of the Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) exam rather than specific fundraising strategies. This course will help students identify gaps in knowledge by working through caselets.

Participation in the AFP CFRE Review Course may assist individuals in learning or reviewing concepts covered on the CFRE exam as detailed on the Test Content Outline provided by CFRE International. The CFRE Professional Certification Board does not sponsor nor endorse any educational programs, and the AFP CFRE Review Course was not developed in conjunction with the CFRE board. The AFP CFRE Review Course is not designed specifically as a preparatory course for the exam. It is designed to provide a review of concepts one should know at the five-year experience level. AFP highly recommends that the review course be just one of the resources you use in preparing to take the CFRE exam. Your study should also include reading books that appear on the CFRE Resource Reading List.

No on-site registration. Lunch is not provided.

Cost:
$350 – with full AFP International Conference registration
$550 – without full AFP International Conference registration

3. AFP Planning to Keep Your Donors Workshop  (1 Day)

Start/End Times:
March 22  -  1pm to 5pm

The AFP Planning to Keep Your Donors Workshop is based on data collected via the Fundraising Effectiveness Project.  The annual survey indicates that nonprofits are losing nearly as many donors and gifts as they gain each year.

The 4-hour workshop includes small group work on a fictional case study based on real data, making the learning experience both substantive and enjoyable. The focus of this workshop is on developing a donor retention plan based on what research indicates really works.

It shows the value of tracking overall gains and losses in gifts and donors – and then using that information to develop cultivation strategies to improve donor retention.

Topics covered include:

Why organizations lose donors and money
How keeping donors increases fundraising success
Determining the effectiveness of fundraising efforts
Developing a successful donor retention plan

Who Should Attend?

The AFP Planning to Keep Your Donors Workshop is designed for fundraising professionals at the intermediate to advanced level who have responsibility for donor cultivation.

Description:

Nowhere is there an international masters level qualification in fundraising. Through our alliance with the Institute of Fundraising (IoF) and the European Fundraising Association, the new International Advanced Diploma Course has a common curriculum that will be taught in Europe and North America.  The course will make its U.S debut beginning in early 2014. This year-long course - designed for senior fundraising practitioners - will be taught at a Master’s Degree level. It will consist of an initial 10 weeks of individual study followed by a three-day face-to-face instruction block conducted during the AFP International Conference in San Antonio. A final 10 weeks of individual study will wrap up this advanced experiential learning experience; participants will spend approximately 600 hours in individual and group study over the life of the program

So if you want to develop your understanding of fundraising in the context of your organization and society as a whole; if you want to stretch your skills in analysis, synthesis and evaluation to the limit; if you want to understand how to represent fundraising better to your board and senior management team; if you want to understand philanthropic psychology and how to apply it, the Advanced Qualification in Fundraising could be for you.

Students will be expected to complete the 600 hours of study over a full academic year, including attending two three-day residential teaching blocks and completing seven assignments. Because of the innovative teaching methods being employed by the course faculty headed by Professors Adrian Sargeant and Jen Shang, you will be expected to engage with the course material and your fellow students in advance and between the teaching blocks.
